27 Jul Quick Guide to Snapchat’s Latest Features
If you haven’t heard of the power of Snapchat yet, then you’re probably falling a little behind. No worries. We can help with that!
We recently published a blog discussing how to use Snapchat effectively and strategically for business. Here’s the link. Check it out so that you’re caught up to speed. http://ow.ly/Kr7Z302r0aF
Since writing this blog, Snapchat has made a few changes. I’ll list and discuss them…
You can now upload pictures from your phone’s album.
Previously, Snapchat was only capable on uploading pictures and videos taken from the app’s camera. That has recently changed. You can now take a picture or video from your regular phone camera and upload it to Snapchat whenever you choose to do so. Before this update, there were other apps available to allow this to happen, but the app had to be downloaded separately.
You can now store photos within the app for longer than 24 hours.
This new feature is called “Memories.” Regular snaps still disappear after a period of 24 hours; however, you can now save pictures from Snapchat to this “Memories” folder, and they’ll only be available for you to see. You can also take old pictures and videos from the “Memories” folder and save them to your phone’s album at any time.
You will now see in-app advertisements.
Snapchat now has ads. They do not interrupt a specific individual’s story, due to Snapchat’s attempt to not overwhelm users. They appear instead after one individual’s story ends and before the next person’s story begins. Some of the companies currently advertising on Snapchat are Express, Verizon, Universal Pictures, and Paramount Pictures.
There is it. Be sure to seriously consider whether or not your brand or business should be on Snapchat. Most businesses can strongly benefit from it when the app is used strategically, so don’t fall too behind on the latest trend in social media.
If you’d like more in-depth information on this specific platform, take a look at this webinar, titled 10 Things You Wish You Knew About Instagram and Snapchat, hosted by Ashley Northington and myself, Monica Onate. It’s filled with tons of useful information and examples.
