Before the interview, we asked Ashley to answer some fun questions to help us get to know her better. These were her answers…

Q: What is your business super power?
A: Connecting people and thinking outside the average norm of how things are done.

Q: If you weren’t an entrepreneur, what would your career be?
A: My initial college major was architecture but in looking back I probably would have gone to culinary school to become a chef.

Q: What is the biggest lesson you learned since starting your business?
A: If at first you don’t succeed, try another like thousand times, lol. I am realizing it is okay to pivot and change. It’s my business and I have the discretion to mix things up at any times. Before, I would always think about the what if’s…what if my current advertisers aren’t on board, what if business members don’t renew, what if readers don’t like this particular post. Now, I think on it for a set amount of time, weigh the variables and just do.

Q: Apple or PC? Why?
A: PC, because it is way more user friendly than a Mac. Plus, my fingers can’t do all the fancy things required to be a Mac user:).

Q: Tell us one thing that people would be surprised to learn about you.
A: My first business was an eco-friendly packaging company many several years ago. I was selling the “go green” experience to restaurants, cafeterias, caterers and schools before it was the “it” thing to do.

Q: How can people connect with you online?
A: Your listeners can connect by signing up for our weekly newsletter, and via @urbaanite on IG, FB and Twitter.
